Introduction to Body Cleansing

As stated earlier, detoxification and cleansing of the body has been in practice since Biblical times. Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine stated; " in order to cure the human body it is necessary to first have knowledge of the whole". He believed that disease was a humoral imbalance (blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile) brought on by improper diet, exercise, and the vagaries of climate, age, and season. During this time, " balancing the humors", was standard practice among all physicians. Detoxification was the foundation of healing.

As time past, the concept that the body is a group of separate systems, rather than the body as a whole, developed. Physicians seeing the body as an organism consisting of different parts began treating symptoms within the affected system. The focus moved away from a whole body concept of healing, with the emphasis toward systems, science, and technology. This science-based medicine is allopathic medicine and most medical doctors' practice with this concept in mind.

Today, again the focus is changing. Many health practitioners, especially those of us in Alternative or Complementary Health, view the body as an integrated whole. We do not see a health problem as an isolated problem, but see symptoms as manifestations of the imbalance within the whole body. Cleansing the body of toxins and waste is the first step in regaining balance. Colon Hydrotherapy and body cleansing are a means by which you can do this.

In order to cleanse the body of toxic waste, you must first STOP PUTTING TOXINS IN! This would require some sort of a cleansing diet. One consisting of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, whole grains, natural fats, and unprocessed unrefined foods. Once you change your way of eating the body starts the cleaning process on its' own. Dr. Stanley Bass states; "When the quality of food coming into the body is of higher quality than the tissue which the body is made of, the body begins to discard the lower grade materials and tissues to make room for the superior materials which it uses to make new and healthier tissue…the body always tries to produce health and always will, unless our interference is too great." The second step in detoxifying the body is simply to SUPPORT AND ASSIST it through the process. This is done by using natural substances, such as Botanicals, (herbs, essential oils), homeopathics or the like, to alleviate detoxification reactions and support organ systems.

There are numerous cleansing programs used to detoxify the body.   No matter which method of cleansing you choose the focus should be to open all the elimination channels of the body. This will expedite the elimination of wastes and decrease unpleasant cleansing reactions.

    DETOXIFICATION REACTIONS

    Things to do if you experience a detox reaction:

    • Drink several glasses of pure water
    • Have a colonic or administer an enema
    • Go for a walk, breath deep pure air
    • If you are used to exercising, consider increasing your heart rate. Create a sweat. Do not over tax your body
    • Take a nap
    • Get a massage, or do your dry skin brushing
    • Make sure all the elimination channels are open!
    • Relax, and remember that the body is healing
    • Use Essential Support Blends!
